Our Trips in Photos, Stories and Videos
We invite you to share in a causal way our eco-trips to different countries.
Tera1.org is a collection of photos, videos under nov0991compassion and wwwTera1dotOrg of our trips and some casually written informative stories we think are worth sharing.
The primary interest of our trips is bird watching and thanks to bird watching we end up in very nice places. My husband loves the sea, I love mountains, we’re a good match!
My husband is a serious bird watcher and I am more casual about it, so it allows me to soak in everything else our trips offer. We are seldom in cities but rather in the heart of nature. My interests are varied but deeply focussed on nature appreciation and the condition of people and animals of the countries we visit. Some of our trips include Africa (Tanzania and South Africa), Alaska (Anchorage, Nome, Point Barrow and Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks using the Dalton Highway), Antarctica, Australia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, (Galapagos and Amazon Basin), Japan, New-Zealand and bird watching places in United States.
I am more involved in the web site but it is certainly a joint effort with my husband for the overall project of Tera1.org. We start this new web site with our most recent trip, Antarctica, and Ecuador (the only trips at the moment) but I will eventually catch up with updating our prior trips. So, please stay tuned!
All the stories are under Trips and the three introductory stories are posted on the Welcome page. The last, but not least, story of a trip will always feature Kids’ Stuff! (Grown ups allowed!)

A tourist's perspective.
These are the TOP stories. Lots more to learn about under Trips
“In 1978, the Galapagos Islands were designated a UNESCO World Heritage, signifying their “outstanding value to humanity.” ” (1). “40,000 tourists in 1990, over 145,000 in 2006” (2). “In June, [2007] UNESCO placed the Galapagos Islands on its list of World Heritage in Danger .” (3). A single day visit on Santa Cruz inspired me to write on Tourism in Galapagos Why? Because it’s in Santa Cruz I realized the “Issues Facing Galapagos” to use the title of an article presented by IGTOA After some research... I gathered some information on International Galapagos Tour Operators Association (IGTOA), Park decide the itinerary and more - Craig MacFarland (CDF), Nature Conservancy Projects in Galapagos, Population of Galapagos, INGALA, “Galapagos at Risk” - Graham Watkins of Charles Darwin Foundation, Finch Bay Eco-Hotel, Charles Darwin Foundation, Visitor Statistics, Galapagos National Park, Fishermen conflict with GNP. Consider some options in What Can I Do? section.
Garbage in the water... it’s everywhere! The interest on Marine Garbage started because we found garbage on a beach on Floreana Island. In Galapagos, marine debris collection has reduced from 8 tons in 1998 to 300 lbs in 2007. The issue of Marine Debris can improve. After some research I discovered Marine Garbage is a serious problem: view our video Marine Garbage on YouTube. Learn the role of our oceans on our planet. Read Captain Paul Watson’s Essay. Watch Captain Charles Moores’s video. Watch videos on What is the Gyre? Learn plastic facts and the consequences of garbage in our ocean. Consider some options in What Can I Do?
The movie SHARK WATER by Rob Stewart. Videos: Rob Stewart on ABC News (YouTube), Sea Shepherd on Saving Sharks in Costa Rica (You Tube) and Rob Stewart's web site. Jack Grove, tour leader of Zegrahm Expedition, took us, tourists, to see the underwater world where we saw, among other creatures, the gentle Whitetip Reef Sharks. National Geographic video with Yoa Ming against shark finning.
